I love going on microadventures! The idea is that you work from 9 to 5, and go on an adventure from 5 to 9. I took that very literally this time; I drove to a camp site directly from work, at 5 pm. The next morning at 9 am, I was back in my house, just in time for my appointment. The time in between I spent in a very quit, peaceful garden about 45 minutes from my house.
I arrived in Warffum feeling very tired from work. My host Frits was waiting for me on a bench in the sun, together with his two cats. It was such a nice, quiet place, with just the sound of the wind in the trees and the birds chirping. We chatted and relaxed in the sun, before he showed me around in his garden and house. In his garden he offers several camp spots, under the blossoming trees or with a great view over the surrounding fields. There is a bathroom, a toilet (one in the house and one in the garden from where you see the fields), a living room, a kitchen and even a meditation room that his visitors can use.
I pitched up my tent on a spot near a stream, overlooking the neighbour’s fields. I then cooked myself some diner in the evening sun, after which I went for a walk exploring the surroundings. There were lambs in the field and a cuckoo was calling over the fields. I watched the sunset from a bench near little pond.
The next morning I woke up at 5.45, just before sunrise. I opened the ‘door’ of my tent and watched the sunrise from my warm sleeping bag. Great start of the day!
